Twilight let down!

If any of you have read my blog it was made clear that I was a HUGE Twilight fan. As you all know the movie came out in theaters on November 21st. I was in line by 10:00pm Thursday night with some friends waiting for the midnight show. We were let in early to find our seats and just sat and waited patiently for 2 hours. As the lights dimmed our excitement grew, it was now time to see the movie that started out as the best book ever! It only took about 10 minutes to realize that I was about to sit through a 2 hour movie made of complete Cheese with a capitol C!!! It was quite possibly the worst movie I have seen all year. It didn't follow the book AT ALL, there was no character development, there were no explanations for anything (which really confused the friends who had not read the book), the acting was appalling, and oh did I mention it was Cheesy! We were laughing at scene that weren't meant to be funny, the cheese was just comical! Whats even more atrocious to me is that Stephanie Meyer was heavily involved with the making of the film. How could she allow such an abomination to enter the theater? If you haven't seen the movie already spare yourself the time and money, its 2 hours of your life that you won't get back! I just hope that they do a better job with New Moon!!!

A Tyler Day!

Because I work so dang hard I decided to take Friday off to spend with Tyler. We slept in nice and long and then made some yummy chocolate chip pancakes (his favorite). We then got ready and headed out for the Sacramento Zoo, Yay! I had been telling him all the while that we were going to see the new penguin exhibit and we were all really excited about that. We got there and walked around for a while and saw no penguins. So we looked at the zoo map and guess what? No penguins! I thought maybe they hadn't updated the maps yet so Deke went and asked a zoo worker if there even was a penguin exhibit. We were then informed that there WAS a penguin exhibit but they took it out some time ago. Disappointment! Well, Tyler really didn't care too much but I did! The zoo worker preceded to tell us that we could see 4 of the penguins that were in the exhibit at the San Francisco Zoo....oh goodie. I'm taking Tyler to the San Diego Zoo in December so he will just have wait until then to see some penguins (OK, I will have to wait). After we got our fill of the stinky zoo animals, we went to Costco for some lunch. Gotta love polish hot dogs and soda for $1.50! Our last activity of the day was going to see the play "Annie", put on by the El Dorado County theater. We all really enjoyed it and thought that the kids did an amazing job. It would have been better if Tyler wasn't snorting the whole time...don't ask me why, the kid is weird sometimes. I think in the end Tyler had a great day. Being a working mother can be very difficult and I cherish days like this one!

Halloween!

Tyler was with his father this Halloween so my friends and I decided to parrrrrty! Sara's little boy was also with his dad and as you can tell we took advantage of this temporary freedom. We got all dolled up in our costumes (which took hours!) and then headed out to meet friends at the Spaghetti Factory for dinner. Even though it was Halloween we still got several strange looks going into a restaurant in our costumes....its not that weird is it? I didn't think it was but anyways, the meal was great and so was the company. Although, I'm really kicking myself for not getting any pictures at dinner. Oops! The party was at someones house who we didn't know and there were TONS of people there. It was raining outside so everyone had to cram into the living area along with the D.J. and try to make due. The house was extremely hot and humid as I'm sure you can tell from the picture directly below. The hair which Sara and I spent forever and an eternity on was flat within the hour....this was NO BUENO! Despite the flat hair and sweaty bodies we had an enjoyable evening full of dancing, laughing, and good ol' fashion fun! I'm glad Sara and I got it out of our systems because next Halloween we will be trick-or-treating with the kids and eating waaaaay too much candy. Can't wait! ;-)

Apple Hill

October 18, 2008: Today Sara, Ryder, Mike, Mason, Deke, Tyler, and myself all went to Apple Hill up in Placerville, the weather was beautiful but it was really crowded. We had lunch at the Apple Cafe and then headed off for pony rides. Tyler was only able to spend about an hour with us before his father came to pick him up, as you can see in the picture below Tyler was really tired. The rest of us had fun relaxing by the pond and eating cream cheese apple pie for the remainder of the afternoon. I LOVE FALL!!!

Happy Birthday Tyler!

So I will start off by saying, I can not believe I have a child that's 5 year old!!! It makes me feel so old but oh well. Tyler's birthday was actually yesterday, September 25th however, his friends party was last Saturday. Tyler decided he wanted a Transformers themed party, I thought it was a lame choice but it was his party so his decision. I thought I would tone it down some compared to his party last year. I went way too overboard last year and Tyler actually hated it so this year I kept it simple. We had the party at Cameron Park Lake in the play ground section.
I only invited about 8 kids (last year was 15), they played on the play ground, ate food, played "Transformers", and had a pinata. Tyler actually enjoyed his party this year so maybe less really is more... and not to mention cheaper!

Birthday boy!
Look at all those Transformers!

Tyler was very proud of his new Optimus Prime toy.
Full of hot air?

Uh-oh, Tyler with a baseball bat....bad idea...

See...
Give me the chocolate!

Looking at these pictures makes me want to go buy some gummy bears :/

Gotta love the swings!

What a cutie!

Labor Day

Tyler was with his dad for this past Labor Day so some friends and I decided to go to "Happy Valley" up in Placerville. I had never been there before and it was absolutely beautiful! It reminded me of the Seven Sacred Pools in Maui, Hawaii. It was about a 10 minute hike to the exquisite levels of waterfalls. We jumped off cliffs, swam, laid out, and just had a good ole' time. Unfortunately, I do not have any pictures of the falls so just us your imagination, trust me they were breath taking.

Twilight Fanatic!!!

As I have mentioned before Twilight is my newest addiction. I have never read a book that was so captivating. If you have never heard of it, it is a love story between a vampire and a human. I know that sounds silly right? But trust me it is the most well written book I have ever come across. The story line is parallel to the Romeo and Juliet play. There are 4 books in the series and I am just finishing up the second book. I just started reading these 500+ page books a week ago, that is how addicted I am I just cant put them down! I read till the late hours of the night and then read at my desk while I pretend to work. My boss even accused me today of sneaking in extra breaks to read my book (he was kidding but he doesn't know how true that is..hehe). I highly recommend reading these books if you haven't already. I guarantee you will fall in love with them as much as I have. In my blog I listed a poll of some of the male characters in the book. It will be posted until December 12, the day the Twilight movie comes out in theaters(http://www.twilightthemovie.com/). Read the book and vote for your favorite! I will admit that Edward (the one in the middle of the pic) is my favorite...for obvious reasons of course ;-)

Kayaking fun!

So I bought this tandem kayak at the beginning of the summer and Thursday August 14th was only the second time taking it out! I love to kayak but the thing is such a beast that I cant take it out alone. It has been harder than I thought trying to find people to go kayaking with me. Hopefully I can get it out in the lake a few more times before the summer ends! In this picture starting from the left we have Kimmi, Sean, me, Sara, and Ryder. It was a blast!

Dinner with my sibs

Tuesday August 12 2008, Tyler and I went to BJ's to have dinner with my visiting siblings. My brother Alan and his wife Amy are visiting from Boston for Amy's 10 year high school reunion. Cynthia, her husband Josh, and their two children, Travis and Jenna are visiting from Pennsylvania to attend my youngest brothers mission homecoming. We had an enjoyable evening despite all the mayhem coming from the three children at our table. Tyler and Travis are very devious when together. From the left we have Alan, Heather, Cynthia with Jenna, and me. As you can see I am clinching onto my newest addiction in life...Twilight, the first book of the series. I couldn't even go one evening without trying to sneak in a few more pages of that captivating book. I love it!
